Everything about the venture was new, from concept to store layout and design. It sold everything under one roof, from home appliances to fashion clothing, This was shopping nivana for price sawy family shoppers.
An ever-expanding geographical presence and coupled with consistent store expansion , strategic alliances and becoming agents for a large number of retail partners ultimately led to partnerships with instantly recognizable international brands.
This has resulted in the information of successful joint ventures with reputable trading companies.
- In Bahrain , Liwa has formed ventures with Kanoo Group amongst the oldest and most experienced family-owned companies.
- In Kuwait , it has formed a joint venture within Al Sabrya General Trading Company.
- In Qatar , it has established a joint venture with Doha Motors & Trading Company, whose owner is a prominent businessman,
Today there are 130 outlets for varying sizes operating across the Gulf countries, managing the total retail space in excess 140,000ft. Shoppers can now find one of Liwa's brands across all fine shopping malls in the UAE, Kuwait ,Bahrain, Qatar. Keeping up with the pace of the region, more notably in Dubai, Liwa has ambitious plans for growth in the next few years, Liwa has plans to add about 120,000 ft area spread across all new and existing shopping malls in the region. Liwa has also established a business in both Yemen and Jordan in 2004, and Lebenon and Pakistan in 2005 , the futre plan is to have a operating stores in Egypt,Libya and other Middle East Countries.

- 1987 The first British Home Stores (Bhs) opens in Abu Dhabi , UAE
- 1992 Licensing agreement signed with JC Penney Collections Store opens in Burjuman Shopping Mall.
- 1993 The First Florsheim men's shoe shop opens in Abu Dhabi.
- 1997Massive expansions of Florsheim and Premaman, New outlets for Florsheim and Premaman in Abu Dhabi .Florsheim available at Deira City centre.Florsheim and Premaman stores launched for the first time in Doha, Qatar, Liwa moves into Sharjah and establishes a Premaman store in Al Fardan Mall.
A new extension a Seef Mall, Bahrain, houses Florsheim, Planet and Gant.
- Liwa expands into Wafi Mall in Dubai with the launch of Premaman Windsmoor and Gant.
- 2000 Liwa establishes its second retail Outlet in July2000 at the Landmark mall in Doha.
- 2002 Liwa acquires the license of La Senza,La Senza Girl, Stefanel, Tally Weijl and Virgin Cosmetics. A second retail outlet opens at Al jimi shopping centre . Al Ain, Eight new outlets were opened in Prestigious sahara centre in Sharjah.
- 2003 Liwa acquires the license for X18 and Pepe jeans , New stores for La Senza,as well as other brands, were inaugruarated in Marina Mall,Abu Dhabi ,Al Ain Mall and Mega Mall in Sharjah.
- 2004 Liwa acquired a license for B-Young and Hot Kiss, New Outlets were established in Abu Dhabi.
- 2005 New Stores opened in Ibn Batuta Mall, Dubai ,Several prestigious jobs were signed in Dubai including Mall of the Emirates,Dubai Mall, and Dubai Festival City. A new license was acquired for Rampage.
Logistical Support.
For the group on the move The emphasis has always been on modernizing and improving its service and internal systems. Recently ,as a step towards further consolidating its across the GCC and to meet its future retail expansion program, a state of the art information system was implemented to integrate its financial, commercial , payroll and personal systems. This is an open system with a central distribution and allocation capability, designed to handle the growing business volumes of Liwa and to meet with its future retail expansion program. Liwa is operating distribution centres dedicated to each country with a central distribution function controlled from the UAE. In the UAE ,Liwa has distribution centres strategically located in Dubai and Abu Dhabi ,offering a complete distribution function from a total area of 30,000ft.
Management |Information Systems.
Liwa Trading Enterprises has implemented Navision financials, an ERP solution which has now become a part of Microsoft Business Solutions. This Solution system currently runs on Windows NT 4.0 as an operating system and is available on the company's wide area network through ISDN Lines. When Liwa considered the options for replacing the DOS based solutions. Navision was the best choice. It has chosen a standard system that was economical in the in terms of acquisition, development and maintenance. Navision is fully integrated with all of its modules. In additional to all the financials and business administration functions, the system support sales , marketing and inventory management. Liwa has integrated Navision with Adaytum, an excellent tool for budgeting and planning. The integration options in Navision spare Liwa a lot of heavy -paper based business processes.
Portable data terminals have been replaced the laborious manual jobs which used to consume a lot of man-hours. The Front office is supported with HBGPOS system which in turn is strongly interfaced with Navision.
